ACHMOODY, ACKMOODY posted by Jen Cranch on Monday, October 12, 1998

Looking for information on Benjamin D. ACKMOODY (or ACHMOODY). He was on the 1890 Veterans' Schedule for Elba Twp., Gratiot County. I also have seen reference to Elsie, MI for him. He was a veteran of the Civil War, fought in the 111th NYVI and in the 16th NYHA, according to the 1890 census. I have pictures of him as an older man sitting with a young family. Not sure exactly how he is related to my family. He may be a half brother of my gr-gr-great-grandfather, James AUCHMOODY of Cayuga County, NY. If they ARE half brothers, then their father was Abraham AUCHMOODY, originally from Ulster County, NY. Abraham was married first to Elizabeth Van Aken. He may have married after her early death to a Hannah ____. Found them and a young Benjamin in Onondaga County, NY in 1850 and 1860. Would love to hear from anyone researching Auchmoody relations. Am searching for the ancestors and/or descendants of Chester Rosecrans (named changed to Rosecrance around 1900). Chester Rosecrans was listed on the 1870 Census, which shows he resided in Sumner. It shows he had a son (George Rosecrans) who resided there with him, as well as his daughter (Martha A. ("Mattie") Rosecrans Dayton), son-in-law (Dr. Lucien H. Dayton) and their children. Chester Rosecrans' wife was Julia A. Carpenter, who died in Sumner on 03/03/1873. Chester and Julia were married in Delaware County, OH.

Am searching for the ancestors/descendants of Sybil Hulbert, believed to be the mother of Emma Viola Berry. LANDON, PATTON, ROOT, SEXTON, WHEELER posted by Pam Pohly on Monday, November 9, 1998

Can we connect our Gratiot County dots? I am looking for information about my great grandmother Hattie F. Wheeler Sexton who lived in Gratiot County Michigan and had the children Maud Sexton (before 1884), Seth Sexton (before 1884) and Jessie Sexton (1888) and more. Jessie Sexton's birth certificate says that her parents (Hattie Wheeler and Alba Sexton) had come from Pennsylvania. I have been unable to independently verify this. Other records say that Alba Sexton came from Ohio. Alba was the son of Hiram Sexton and Adeline Root, perhaps from New York or Pennsylvania or elsewhere. Could Hattie have come to Michigan from Pennsylvania? Also looking for Hattie's father Aaron M. Wheeler who may have moved from New York (according to one account) to some other location (such as Pennsylvania,or Ohio or Michigan). Eventually, he made his way to Gratiot County in Breckenridge and Bethany. Aaron was born about 1821 and married to Lucy Landon. I am also looking for Aaron Wheeler's father, George Wheeler who died around 1831 and was married to Sally Patton or Patten. Any one with info, please contact me. Thank you, Pam Pohly E-mail pam@pohly.com. Website http://www.pohly.com/tree/
