    Oberlin, Henry, 1842-1864.
    Seville, Gratiot County, Michigan, resident who served in Co. E, 23rd Michigan Infantry during
    the Civil War until his death from wounds received in action at Franklin, Tennessee. Diary with
    brief entries describing weather, camp life, troop movements, and military engagements. Includes
    an introduction by Ivan A. Conger, copyist of the original diary

    Young, Charles B., 1829-1864.
    Young enlisted in Company I, 23rd Michigan Infantry in Coe Township (Isabella County, Mich.) in
    1864, age 35. He was mustered on Sept 22, 1864 and joined the regiment on Nov. 12, 1865. He
    died of disease in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 10, 1865 and was buried in the National Cemetery
    at Arlington (Va.). John S. Young was apparently his brother.(For further information see the
    history of the 23rd Infantry.)
    His letters mention many Gratiot and Shiawasee County men
